SPOTTED // Facebook Notification Shows Location?

Did you think something looks a bit different or this morning but can’t put your finger on it?

It would appear that Facebook is having a bit of a play around… the globe used in the notification bar is now reflecting your location.

Traditionally the globe shows the Western Hemisphere; as you can see from the image above, the globe is reflecting the Eastern Hemisphere. Facebook has been quietly testing this for a few weeks but (quietly) officially rolled it out this week.

According to Tech in Asia, Asia-Pacific is the single biggest region for Facebook users – 410 million in Asia at the last count, versus 204 million in the US and Canada – so it makes sense that Facebook would want to be more inclusive with this little gesture.

What are your thoughts on this latest tweak?

Originally from Texas and now proudly Australian, the “Texstralian” is all about hard work, calculated risks and has a great ‘gift of the gab’. While Meg is a hospitality and tourism sector specialist, her skill and understanding of “social” translates to any application, and she leads the charge for digital empowerment across Australia.
