Farewell #SMPerth, It has been my pleasure. For the past 7 months I have been an Intern at #SMPerth. During this time, I have authored a fortnightly blog related to all things social and digital media.

I have begun to notice many similarities between Instagram and Facebook that begs me to ask – Is Instagram becoming Facebook?

Do we really know what smartphones and social media are doing to us? This question has been gaining traction recently. Perhaps the question should be rephrased to – ‘do we really care what smartphones and social media is doing to us’?

Lately, social media has been under a bit of heat. The pressure is mounting for platforms such as Facebook and YouTube to moderate their content and be held accountable for what their users post.

As the year comes to an end, it is nice to reflect on what has been. What was the best viral video? Who was deemed - by yours truly - to be the king and queen of social media.

Can authentic video only be captured on film these days during moments that arise unexpectedly? We may have created a more engaged world but do we sacrifice authenticity in the process?

Ever had that feeling where you take a look at your wardrobe and it makes you feel a little sick?

Nothing like a fresh Facebook addition to strengthen our Australian-American alliance.

VR headsets haven’t really exploded in popularity just yet, but it is only a matter of time before they do. High ambitions by Zuckerberg, but realistic.
