June is our birthday month and we are beginning to feel a little bit special about turning four.
There’s much excitement in the air as we plan our big event at the end of June!
Over the four years since #SMPerth began there have been many changes, but we have always maintained our desire to provide homegrown support and education.
Rebrand
Looking back on the past year, the rebrand was probably the biggest thing to have happened. Founder and MD of #SMPerth Meg Coffey referred to it as “the next chapter in the story for Social Media Perth.”
Meg comments, “As we grew and gained followers we realised we needed to update the site to accommodate the growth and reflect the maturation of the brand.”
We designed a new logo for us that reflects our modern approach and authority on social media within the industry.
Four years, forty events.
Can you believe it? We certainly can’t! In case you’ve missed it, on the last Tuesday of every month we hold #SMPerth – Drinks for Perth Social Media, it is a chance for businesses, brands and individuals to come together and share and learn from one another.
Over the past year, we have been graced with a swathe of inspiring speakers and been privileged to have hosted the event at some of the most fantastic venues around Perth. We are very grateful for their time and hospitality in allowing us to create one of Perth’s premier social media events.
You may recall, it was eleven floors up at The WA Club in July that our friend Freddy Hollow shared his insights from the 2016 WA Digital Marketing Report and the 2016 Sensis Social Media Report. Watch this space for our own #SMPerth Review of the 2017 Sensis in coming weeks!
Three times now we have hosted our event on Perth’s first ever floating bar The Boat Collective, all were a lovely reminder to us of how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful city. It was onboard for the April event that we had one of our smiliest speakers, Allan Dixon share his social media journey with us.
We were also honoured to have WA Labor State Secretary, Patrick Gorman take time out of his busy schedule to speak to our guests about the social media strategy Labor engaged during the WA State Election.
If you’d like to know more about our past events you can read about the individual months or watch our 2016 Year in Review video.
Where to next?
As we enter our 5th year, we look forward to growing our library of resources for you all. This will involve more articles, more tips, more contributors, extensive research and the latest digital and social media news and events.
The events and venues are going to get bigger and better too. As Meg proudly states our intention, “We want to be WA’s number one resource. Your only resource for all things social media.”
