10 Simple Ways to Improve Your Social Media Profiles

If you want to succeed in this new digital era, there’s no doubt a social media profile is the way to go.

It isn’t as easy as just making an account and having it there though.  You need to establish a positive and engaging online presence to build a credible reputation.

We have 10 hot tips for you, to help boost the awesome social media profiles that you already have.

1. Image Sizes

There is nothing worse than to see a profile pic that is cropped too much or an uneven image.

Below are the image sizes, in pixels, of most social media accounts that you should study and understand before you post your next pic.

  • Facebook profile picture: 170 X 170
  • Facebook cover photo: 828 X 465
  • Instagram profile picture: 110 X 110
  • LinkedIn profile photo: 400 X 400
  • LinkedIn cover photo: 974 X 330
  • YouTube profile picture: 800 X 800
  • YouTube cover photo: 2560 X 1440
  • Twitter profile photo: 400 X 400
  • Twitter cover image: 1500 X 500
  • Pinterest profile picture: 150 X 150

2. Post Relevant Content

Understand your target audience.

Understand what exactly excites your audience and post the content that will engage them.

You will have to study your target audience and what drives them.

Things to consider could be what time of day to post or what images and videos your audience likes.

This is a great way to improve your social media profile and get those extra hits.

3. Fill Out The About Me Section

If you do not fill out this section it makes your profile look incomplete and does not look professional at all.

It looks like the account has only half been made and makes a massive difference to the perception of the user.

4. Use Your Own Hashtags

Creating your own hashtags adds the authenticity of your post.

It can differentiate your posts from others and allow other users to find your account easier.

You can also target a niche audience by using unique hashtags like #FrenchieFriday instead of targeting just #dogs.

5. Consistent Profile Picture

Having the same profile picture across all social media profiles looks professional and official.

It shows that your social media presence is authentic and doesn’t confuse people with other similar named accounts.

6. Don’t Be A Robot!

There is nothing worse than to ask a page or an account a specific question, and they respond with an extremely formal response with no personality at all.

People want to speak to an actual person and not be greeted with a generic message that gets sent to everyone.

7. Be Active And Actually Respond

Alternatively, do not ignore messages or posts directed to your account.

Not responding to these requests is worse than having no social media presence at all. Make sure you are regularly posting content as well.

8. Change Your Instagram Bio Regularly

If you consistently change your bio every couple of weeks, it gives the impression that not only is your account active and have the ability to respond but it also gives a fresh updated look to your profile.

People are lazy.

When you post, make sure you attach a link for them to follow.

If you just post about a certain thing and don’t attach a link, most people will not even bother finding the time to look for it on Google.

It is all about convenience!

10. Use Editing Software

So, I know this one might be a bit pricey but if you have the option to use software editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom, it will go a long way to improve your photos that you post.

It improves your posts and looks awesome if you know how to edit properly!
