How to get on TikTok’s For You Page

For You forever

TikTok’s For You page might just be the most sought-after target in all of social media at the moment, but how do you get your content there?

As TikTok continues to explode, we’re all looking for ways to make content that performs well on the platform

A massive factor in whether or not your content will be successful or not depends on if you can get your upload onto TikTok’s For You page.

It’s important to remember that there is no one For You page on TikTok. Just like every user on TikTok is different, every For You page is unique.

1. Keep your videos short

TikTok wants users to watch as many videos as possible, so you should consider that when creating content for the platform.

However, TikTok’s algorithm also values completion rate. That means that the artificial powers that be want people to watch all of your video. Now, it doesn’t take some kind of social media genius to realise that the shorter a video is, the more likely it is for that video to be watched in its entirety.

However, keep in mind here that you should still be making your videos as high quality as you can.

2. Quality matters on TikTok

TikTok is a visual platform. That’s why getting on TikTok’s For You Page requires your video content to be high quality.

While you can certainly choose to shoot low-quality, blurry, poorly-shot videos, TikTok isn’t really going to want too many people to see them, are they?

You don’t have to be Roger Deakins, but you should be filming your videos in HD.

3. Hashtags are here to help

Just like every social media platform under the sun, TikTok also features hashtags, and they’re an absolutely crucial part of getting on TikTok’s For You page.

As to whether or not #foryou, #foryoupage or #fyp help you reach TikTok’s For You page, the jury’s still out.

Try and keep an eye on which hashtags are popular.

4. Music is your best friend

Did you know that TikTok was a music-syncing platform before a global phenomenon?

Because TikTok has a massive music library and doesn’t copyright strike you like some other platforms,  it makes music a crucial part of reaching TikTok’s For You Page.

You’ll often see trends or challenges on the platform based on short excerpts of songs on your For You page.

If you’re a musician yourself, you can even create your own music to use on the platform.

While nothing is ever certain on social media, in our experience, TikTok seems to really love trend and challenge videos.

Jumping on a trend or taking part in a challenge is a great way to piggyback on some existing momentum. Who knows, you might even see your videos landing on TikTok’s For You page more often.
