In 2019, there was approximately 3.48 billion people using social media. This equates to roughly 45% of the world’s population.
As the internet becomes more accessible and smartphones become cheaper, we can expect to see the amount of people using social networking sites to continue to increase.
These growing numbers create plenty of opportunity to reach a huge number of engaged users, outside of the popular social media sites like Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

TikTok is a video sharing social networking site that has gained some serious traction in the last few years since being purchased by ByteDance in 2012.

Pinterest is a visual discovery engine for finding ideas like recipes, home and style inspiration, and more. You can organise your pins with “Boards”.
Pinterest has just under 300 million monthly active users.
Snapchat lets users send images and videos to one another, as well as upload Stories that disappear after 24 hours. The app users augmented reality and lets your face try on a new look, swap faces with a friend, or even play games!
Snapchatters around the globe can add photos and videos to Snap Map, so you can see what’s going on across the world.
As of 2019, Snapchat has more than 180 million monthly active users.
